OVERVIEW
Bootlegger is a Cape Town-based Coffee Company that has gone from three best friends’ ideas to a nationwide success with over 24 locations in only a few years. It’s simple to understand why South Africans enjoy Bootlegger Coffee Company, with a wonderful menu, reasonable rates, and a track record of healthy and sustainable goods.
The restaurant is open Monday through Friday from 06:30 am to 6 pm, at weekends and public holidays from 07:30 am to 6 pm, and they close at 7 pm during the Aquarium’s extended hours (except on 25 December when both the Aquarium and the restaurant will close at 6 pm). This makes getting an early meal during extended hours quite convenient and tasty.
HISTORY
Pieter Bloem, De Waal Basson, and Antonie Basson founded the Bootlegger Coffee Company in 2012. The brand has expanded to include many businesses around Cape Town and Johannesburg, and it is still growing. A carefully chosen lyric from an AC/DC song is put on the wall in neon lights at each store. This homage to excellent music and rhythm is responsible for much of the brand’s attitude and personality.

DID YOU KNOW
This is the only Bootlegger in South Africa with pizza! The restaurant is also the first Bootlegger with a kiddie play area, so your little ones can stretch their legs while you wait for your meal. If you get to this Bootlegger before 08h30 – you can get a yummy coffee for just R19!
Every Bootlegger has an AC/DC song title in neon lights on the wall – the Aquarium’s one is “School Days“. They let you DIY your breakfast, so you can eat exactly what you like. This branch also has a generator so you can get your caffeine fix during load shedding. Did we mention the coffee is yummy?
