Buying a City Pass

Where can I purchase my City Pass?

Online: You can purchase your City Pass in advance here.

In-destination: You can also buy it from any of our official ticket offices.

Can I purchase a City Pass prior to arrival?

Yes, and we recommend it! City Pass packages can be purchased here. After purchasing a pass it will be emailed to you which will contain the barcode required to present and scan at the attractions you visit. Passes are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase.

My Payment has Failed

Has your payment been failing when trying to purchase a City Pass?

The issue may lie with your bank’s online transactional security. VISA and Mastercards have security measures in place to protect you when online shopping. if you are unaware of this security, you should read the following documentation to assist in purchasing goods online:

Refunds

Refunds can be requested for all unused passes. Please contact info@citypass.co.za for any refunds/cancellations. An admin fee of R40 will be charged to refund purchases.

Attractions and Venues

Mobile Vouchers Accepted

You may present your City Pass Barcode on your mobile phone to gain entry into attractions.

Upon purchasing a City Pass, you will receive a confirmation email which also contains a unique barcode for each pass purchased.

All of our attractions are equipped with a barcode reader which will scan your barcode and grant you access into the attraction.

Choose a Pass

Choose between a 1-Day Explorer Pass, an Unlimited Pass or an Unlimited Premium Pass and proceed to purchasing your passes online

Get your Pass

After purchasing your pass, you will receive an email receipt with a barcode attached. Add your pass(es) (barcodes) to any mobile device or print at home

Present your Pass

Show your pass (barcode) at any of the participating attractions you would like to visit and they will scan you in!

Can I return to the same attraction using my City Pass?

No. The City Pass package is designed to show you around the city and see as much as you can, different attractions and experiences.

Are the attractions or venues open at all times?

No, opening times vary from attraction to attraction. We endeavour to keep our website and guidebook up to date. You can find more information about an attraction by visiting their attraction page on our website. We recommend contacting them directly to confirm their opening times or visiting their website to confirm details.

Do the City Pass packages include all attractions in a city or region?

The Premium Pass allows access to ALL of the attractions listed on this website (single entry, no repeat visits to the same attraction) and gives you access to ONE premium experience which is exclusive to the Premium Pass. You can visit as many attractions as you like within the validity of your pass (3 or 5 day) and during that time you can visit one premium attraction.

The Unlimited Pass allows access/benefits to ALL of the attractions listed on this website EXCEPT for the premium attractions.

The Explorer Pass is a 1-day pass and includes 3 of 12 great attractions which you can view here.

ALL PASSES INCLUDE A FREE CITY SIGHTSEEING HOP ON HOP OFF BUS TICKET, VALID FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR PASS!

Do I need to show ID needed at the attraction or venue?

No. Your City Pass is all you need to gain access to attractions. Once you reach your chosen attractions, simply present your Pass (barcode) at the admission point.

City Pass packages

What time does the City Pass package run out?

Your Unlimited Pass package is valid for calendar days, not for 24-hour periods. It will run out on the final day of the duration of the pass you purchased. For example, if you purchase a two-day pass and start to use it on a Wednesday, it will be valid for Wednesday and Thursday. Your pass is activated from the first scan.

Do I have to use my City Pass in consecutive days?

All City Pass packages are valid for a certain number of days from first use. We offer 1, 2, 3 and 5-day pass options.

From the day you start using your pass, that would be counted as Day 1. You have to use the pass in consecutive days.

If you purchase a 3-day package and you start to use it on a Tuesday, it will be valid for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of that same week.

How long is the City Pass package valid for?

We aim to provide packages that provide you with the most flexibility during your time in Cape Town.

All of our products expire 24 months from the date of purchase.

Does the City Pass need to be signed?

No. We recommend that you either take a screenshot or a clear photo of the barcode as soon as you receive your pass so should you lose it, the barcode can still be scanned from your phone.

Do you have a family City Pass package?

No. We don’t offer, each member of your party will require their own pass. However, the savings are substantial for family groups too. We do have reduced rates for kids. Kids under 4yrs travel for free. Children’s rates apply for 4 to 17-year-olds.

Is there a City Pass package for children?

Yes, there is a large range of exciting attractions, which kids will love. Our range of attractions packages is available for children aged between 4 and 17. Children under 4 are free.

Does the City Pass package come with a guide?

Yes. Every City Pass package comes with an easy-reference, colour guide which provides details on participating attractions including address, contact details and special offers. Attraction details do change from time to time, so it is recommended that you view their websites for the most up-to-date information.

What is a City Pass package?

Each City Pass includes a range of attractions, experiences, and popular things to do. This includes entry to experiences, tours, and attractions. Simply choose between a 2, 3, or 5-Day pass and if you wish, add a premium experience. A comparison of the different Pass packages are available here.

Each package provides you with complete flexibility to create your own itinerary and the convenience to see the things you want to see when you want.

Planning my trip

Are there any special conditions for the attractions or other venues?

Sometimes special conditions may apply. These may include height restrictions, opening restrictions, or age restrictions. Where special conditions apply, they have been noted with the attraction listing in your City Pass guide. Browse our Cape Town Attractions for more information.

The pass offering is indicated on the attraction page on our website. You may also note when browsing our attractions page, in the top left corner of the images, either a “FREE” or “% OFF” symbol is displayed.

Can I book in advance for any tours?

While most of the attractions in Cape Town do not require booking, there are a few where we recommend booking, especially in the high season. Most of our Premium Attractions and a few others do require to be booked. This info can be found in the attraction listing or in our detailed guide book. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling ahead or before arriving at the attractions.

Transport options

Is transport available with the Pass?

You can easily get to most attractions in Cape Town by using the City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off buses, included for FREE with any City Pass package. The Hop on Hop off Bus ticket is valid for the duration of your pass. Certain attractions will need private/public transport such as the MyCiTi Bus or taxi.
