Buying a City Pass

Where can I purchase my pass?

You can purchase your pass online in advance or from one of our official ticket offices.

Can I purchase a pass prior to arrival?

Yes, and we recommend it! City Pass packages can be purchased here on our website.

After purchasing a pass, it will be emailed to you. The pass will contain the barcode required to present and scan at the attractions you plan on visiting.

PLEASE NOTE: Passes are valid for 24 months from the date of purchase.

My Payment has failed

The issue may lie with your bank’s online transactional security. VISA and Mastercard have security measures in place to protect you when online shopping.

Who do I contact for assistance with Mastercard SecureCode?

If you have a Mastercard SecureCode, you must contact the financial institution that issued your Mastercard.

Refunds

Refunds can be requested for all unused passes within 12 months. Please contact info@citypass.co.za for any refunds/cancellations. An admin fee of R40 will be charged to refund purchases.

Attractions and Venues

Mobile Vouchers Accepted

You may present your pass barcode on your mobile phone to access attractions.

Upon purchasing a pass, you will receive a confirmation email which also contains a unique barcode for each pass purchased.

All our attractions are equipped with a barcode reader which will scan your barcode and grant you access to the attraction.

Can I return to the same attraction using my pass?

Unfortunately, you cannot. You can only visit an attraction once during the duration of your pass.

Are the attractions or venues open at all times?

No, opening times vary from attraction to attraction.

We endeavour to keep our website and guidebook up to date. You can find more information about an attraction by visiting their attraction page on our website. We recommend contacting them directly to confirm their opening times or visiting their website to confirm details.

Do the City Pass packages include all attractions in a city or region?

The Unlimited Pass allows access to ALL the attractions listed on this website EXCEPT for the premium attractions.

The Unlimited Premium Pass allows access to ALL the attractions listed on this website and gives you access to ONE premium experience which is exclusive to the Premium Pass.

You can visit as many attractions as you like within the duration of your pass (3 or 5 days) and during that time you can visit one premium attraction.

The Explorer Pass is a 1-day pass and includes 3 of the several selected must-see attractions

ALL PASSES INCLUDE A FREE CITY SIGHTSEEING HOP ON HOP OFF BUS TICKET, VALID FOR THE DURATION OF YOUR PASS!

Do I need to show my ID at the attraction or venue?

No. Your pass is all you need to gain access to attractions. Once you reach your chosen attractions, simply present your barcode located on your pass at the admission point.

City Pass Packages

What time does the City Pass package run out?

Your City Pass package is valid for calendar days, not for 24-hour periods. It will run out on the final day of the duration of the pass you purchased.

For example, if you purchase a two-day pass and start to use it on a Wednesday, it will be valid for Wednesday and Thursday. Your pass is activated from the first scan.

Do I have to use my pass in consecutive days?

Yes. All City Pass packages are valid for a certain number of days from first use. We offer 1, 2, 3 and 5-day pass options.

From the day you start using your pass, that would be counted as Day 1. You must use the pass on consecutive days.

If you purchase a 3-day package and you start to use it on a Tuesday, it will be valid for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that same week.

How long is the City Pass package valid for?

We aim to provide packages that provide you with the most flexibility during your time in Cape Town.

All of our products expire 24 months from the date of purchase.

From the day you start using your pass, that would be counted as Day 1. You must use the pass on consecutive days.

If you purchase a 3-day package and you start to use it on a Tuesday, it will be valid for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of that same week.

Does the pass need to be signed?

No. We recommend that you either take a screenshot or a clear photo of the barcode as soon as you receive your pass, this way, should you lose it, the barcode can still be scanned from your phone.

Note: only if a clear photo/screenshot must be taken.

Do you have a family City Pass package?

No, we don’t offer family pass packages. Each member of your party will require their own pass. However, the savings are substantial for family groups too. We do have reduced rates for kids. Kids under 4yrs travel for free. Children’s rates apply for 4 to 17-year-olds.

Is there a City Pass package for children?

Yes, there is a large range of exciting attractions, which kids will love. Our range of packages is available for children aged between 4 and 17. Children under 4 are free.

Does the City Pass package come with a guide?

Yes. Every City Pass package comes with an easy-reference, colour guide which provides details on participating attractions including address, contact details and special offers.

Attraction details do change from time to time, so it is recommended that you view their websites for the most up-to-date information.

What are the benefits of a City Pass package?

With your City Pass package, you will receive amazing savings and value whether travelling alone or with your family and friends. Your pass offers cash-free admission to a large range of attractions and experiences and the more you visit, the more you save.

What is a City Pass package?

Each City Pass includes a range of attractions, experiences, and popular things to do. Simply choose between a 2, 3, or 5-Day pass and if you wish, add a premium experience.

Each package provides you with complete flexibility to create your own itinerary and the convenience to see the things you want to see.

Planning my trip

Are there any special conditions for the attractions or other venues?

Sometimes special conditions may apply. These may include height restrictions, opening restrictions, or age restrictions. Where special conditions apply, they have been noted with the attraction listing in your City Pass guide. Browse our Cape Town attractions for more information.

The pass offers are indicated on the attraction page on our website.

Can I book in advance for any tours?

While most of the attractions in Cape Town do not require booking, there are a few where we recommend booking, especially in the high season. Most of our Premium Attractions and a few others do require to be booked. This info can be found in the attraction listing or in our detailed guidebook. To avoid disappointment, we recommend calling ahead or before arriving at the attractions.

Transport options

Is transport available with the pass?

You can easily get to most attractions in Cape Town by using the City Sightseeing Hop-On Hop-Off buses, included for FREE with all our City Pass packages. The Hop on Hop off Bus ticket is valid for the duration of your pass. Certain attractions will need private/public transport such as the MyCiTi Bus or taxi.
