- Indoor course to be played in any weather
- Quick and enjoyable 18-holes of mini Cave Golf
- Suitable for all ages – even experienced golfers
The Scratch Patch and Mineral World outlet at the V&A Waterfront is one of the most popular places for visitors to see and buy gemstones, with their wide variety of tumble-polished gemstones that quite literally cover the floor. In the same building, there is a well-designed 18-hole mini putt putt course laid out inside a man-made cave. A round of cave golf is an equally popular activity and the course is challenging enough to be enjoyed by regular golfers with its assortment of tricky angles, slanting hills, uneven surfaces and awkward obstacles.
The original – and now world-famous – Scratch Patch was started in Simon’s Town in 1970 and has been replicated in other parts of the world! Since then, The Scratch Patch and Mineral World outlets at Simon’s Town and the V&A Waterfront, and the West Coast Ostrich Farm have become one of the most popular and convenient places to see and buy gemstones in Cape Town. The 18-hole mini cave golf course was introduced into the mix to add another fun element to the experience.

Advice for visitors
The course is well-designed and challenging enough to be enjoyed even by regular golfers. Plus, the fact that it is indoors means it can be played and enjoyed in any weather! A trip to the Scratch Patch and a round of Cave Golf can easily turn into a half day adventure. Spend a delightful hour or two selecting a choice of semi-precious stones before playing a round of mini Cave Golf which could take anywhere from 30 minutes up to an hour. The last round is called 45 minutes before closing so you can finish your round. From there, pop over to the V&A Waterfront and enjoy one of the many activities on offer or dine at one of the impressive restaurants.
