Advice for visitors

Allow yourself to be swept away and pampered for an afternoon in the colourful Bo-Kaap. Make an appointment with a group of equally enthusiastic jewellery-lovers and take a tour of The Diamond Gallery’s jewels with a glass of champagne in hand.

Ask as many questions as you like about diamonds and their rich history in Africa – the staff are incredibly knowledgeable. Once you have completed the private tour, stick around for a complimentary snack before taking the leap and making a purchase.

With the jewel of your choice, you get a free African diamond pendant keepsake! After a good couple of hours in the gallery, store your new bling in a safe place and wander the cobbled streets of the Bo-Kaap. There are many famous and locally adored spots to grab a quick coffee or to sit down for a meal, like Bo-Kaap Kombuis or Rose Corner Café.

Did you know

The word diamond derives from the Greek word “adamas”, which means invincible or indestructible. The ancient Greeks and Romans believed that diamonds were tears cried by the gods or splinters from falling stars, and Romans believed that Cupid’s arrows were tipped with diamonds (perhaps the earliest association between diamonds and romantic love).
