Built-in 1920 by the founder of Stellenbosch Winery, John Winshaw. By 1945, a group of local farmers from the estate started selling their wines under the brands of Franschhoek Cellar, Franschhoek Vineyards, and La Cotte. Their wines became more established, providing them with the opportunity to transform the estate into a tasting venue and eatery. In 1995, the estate became Franschhoek Cellars, an independent company with 32 shareholders. Today, Franschhoek Cellar boasts beautiful country-style accommodations in the Rose & Protea Cottages, sophisticated venues for functions, quality wine tastings and rustic cuisine in breath-taking surroundings.

The kitchen opens from 11:00, so come hungry and couple your wine tasting with wholesome food and delicious treats. Try the burger topped with tomato chilli jam – it is highly recommended! If wine is not your thing, then there is always the Brampton Bar and Beer Garden. Situated within The Platform, beer enthusiasts can enjoy artisanal beer while their partners sip on award-winning wines. The estate has a premium lounge for larger groups or events and offers an exclusive wine and food pairing.
